Quick Running Tips for Beginners
Here are some running tips for beginners. I have found these things to help me when out running so passing on to beginners.
Listen to music whilst running:
While you might think this is pretty obvious to do whilst out running, it's a certain type of music that I listen to when running. I won't listen to soft, slow music, for example. I will not listen to a band like One Republic. I always listen to music that is loud and energetic and makes me want to get up and run. I like to call it angry music, music that motivates me. My favourite band is Linkin Park, so I listen to a lot of Linkin Park and similar sounding bands when out running.
Run during rush hour:
The second of my running tips for beginners is running during rush hour. And try to do a route with lots of traffic lights. When the traffic is stopped at the lights, I like to race the cars that are pulling off alongside me. And, obviously I can't run at 30 miles an hour, but it's fun to run past some cars as they're starting off anyway and it will give you a brief challenge and something to help your mind focus on progress while running alongside the cars.
Don't down a pint of water when you finish:
I don't like carrying a bottle with me when I run, as I open my hands out. So when I get in I always have at least a pint of water. Now while you will want to drink as much as possible as quickly as possible, due to thirst, it is best to take gulps or sips rather than down a pint. The reason being that if you just throw a pint down your throat, your body can only absorb so much in one go, so you will only end up urinating more after. Instead, either sip or take gulps over the course of about 5-10 minutes.
