The Chevrolet Global Indian Music Awards announce India's Music Icon, Asha Bhosle as Goodwill Ambassador
GIMA trophy ceremoniously unveiled
Mumbai, 2nd November, 2010: Asha Bhosle was today announced as the Goodwill Ambassador of the Chevrolet Global Indian Music Awards, perfectly embodying Indian music in India. An icon and inspiration to millions across the nation, her varied body of work has changed the landscape of music in India, making her the perfect fit for the inaugural multi-genre awards, Chevrolet GIMA, which is powered by Micromax Mobile.
An initiative of Wizcraft International, the Chevrolet GIMA powered by Micromax, is supported by IMI, T-Series, MCAI, SAI and other key constituents of the music industry. The inaugural edition of the Awards will be presented at an exclusive ceremony on the 10th of November, 2010 defining a benchmark of musical excellence.
Speaking of her role as the Chevrolet GIMA Goodwill Ambassador, Asha Bhosle said, "I am in awe and humbled by the Goodwill Ambassador role that GIMA has bestowed upon me. I have always wanted to do my part for my Industry and encourage new talent and I cannot think of a better platform in India today, to do so. This is the first time that Indian music is being given its due and being honoured in such a prestigious way; it is my privilege to be a part of this movement."

The Chevrolet GIMA trophy was unveiled at Blue Frog, today at the hands of GIMA Goodwill Ambassador, Asha Bhosle. The symbol of GIMA is a shell from which the sounds of the oceans and the wind, the natural harmony of nature emanate. Seven strokes takes the shape of a conch shell symbolizing the seven notes in music.
The Indian Music Industry (IMI), President, Vijay Lazarus, said, "With GIMA, the Indian Music scene will be given its rightful pedestal while honouring a number of greats. It will be a night of many firsts and IMI is proud to be associated with this platform."
Talking about his association with the Chevrolet Global Indian Music Awards, music mogul and T-Series Chairman, Bhushan Kumar said, "GIMA is a wonderful way to bring together the diverse musical talent in India onto the same stage. The inaugural Chevrolet Global Indian Music Awards, powered by Micromax will air in December on India's leading Hindi General Entertainment Channel- COLORS.
