Casting Crowns Tickets - Casting Crowns Up For Dove Awards
As the saying goes, do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life. The members of Casting Crowns love inspiring listeners with their faith-based music, and fans have responded by making them one of the most well-known groups in Christian contemporary music. Just because they are at the top of the scene, though, doesn't mean they are resting on their laurels, and they have continued to release top albums as well as tour around the country. On Sunday, April 25, the best artists in Christian music come together for the Dove Awards, which will be broadcast on GMC. Casting Crowns are nominated for many of the top categories at the awards show. The first is Artist of the Year, where they are up against Francesca Battistelli, Jason Crabb, Jars of Clay, Toby Mac, Mary Mary and Skillet. For Group of the Year, they will have to beat out the Gaither Vocal Band, Jars of Clay, NEEDTOBREATHE, Tenth Avenue North, Hezekiah Walker & LFC and Skillet. Casting Crowns has won Group of the Year every year since 2005.
Their single "Until The Whole World Hears" is up for Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year against "City On Our Knees" by TobyMac, "Free to be Me" by Francesca Battistelli, "Let the Waters Rise" by MIKESCHAIR and "My Deliverer" by Mandisa. Finally, they are nominated along with Leeland, Third Day, John Waller, Grey Holiday, Warren Barfield and Jennifer King in the Special Event Album of the Year category for their contribution to Fireproof: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.
Casting Crowns fans can help them take home a Dove Award by voting for Artist of the Year. In March, the band launched another way to connect with fans: a new community site. Casting Crowns has come a long way since the group first formed in 1999. The band was formed behind youth pastor Mark Hall, who is the group's lead vocalist. He is joined by guitarist/vocalist Juan DeVevo, guitarist/vocalist Hector Cervantes, bassist Chris Huffman, pianist/vocalist Megan Garrett, violinist/vocalist Melodee DeVevo and drummer Brian Scoggin. The band came onto the scene in a big way with their self-titled 2003 album, which spawned top singles like "Who Am I" and "Voice of Truth." Four albums later, the band is still captivating attention with their 2009 album Until the Whole World Hears.
Hall's talent extends beyond the stage, as he is also an accomplished author. His latest creation, with contributor Tim Luke, is called Your Own Jesus: A God Insistent on Making It Personal. He spoke to GMC Insider about the book and said, "It blends perfect into the message of Until the Whole World Hears. The way I'm seeing what God is saying is that people don't complete me. God completes me." The book joins his other book, Lifestories.
